As the town of Hotchkiss celebrates 125 years since its incorporation this May, the Hotchkiss-Crawford Historical Society will present a character piece on our first mayor: George Duke Sr. We will be joined by Impact Playback Theatre from the University of Colorado, who will bring history to life through improvisation, inviting audience members to share their own family histories. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided.
2nd Creamery plant sale. The sale will include annual and perennial flowers, veggies, herbs and beautiful ceramic dish gardens from Colorado Creative Containers. The pottery studio is making ceramic pots that can be used indoors and outdoors. Proceeds from the sale will be used to beautify the farmer's market area.

Like a cross between a town hall meeting and an improvisational performance, one actor from the ensemble (“the conductor”) engages the audience in a collective conversation, asking questions that address the specific concerns of those gathered. The audience’s responses are played back on the spot in non-confrontational ways that boost insight, strengthen social bonds, and lift civic spirit.”–“This four-way exchange brings story to life through the arts. The metamorphosis begins when a community member shares a story from their family’s life and how they have been able to stay in our area through all the changes that have occurred throughout the years. Then, a writer listens to the story and then transforms the original tale into a work of fiction or creative nonfiction. Next, the visual artist creates an image based on the story. There are adult and student writers and visual artists who participate in this. The student and adult writers will read their written works, the visual artist will show their artwork and describe their process and then, to add a further dimension to the transformation process, we are fortunate to host CU Boulder Playback Theatre to perform their own interpretation of the initial story. This project’s goal is to bring various segments of the community together through the power of story!”
